The Simple Things Magazine Review

The Simple Things…. taking time to read

The tagline for this magazine is “taking time to live well” which I think is what most people aspire to but can we actually manage this not just sometimes but all of the time?

Their website has the following description of what the magazine is about which sums it up really well

“The Simple Things is published monthly and is all about taking time to live well. We celebrate slowing down, enjoying what you have, making the most of where you live, enjoying the company of friends and family, and feeding them well. We like to grow some of our own vegetables, visit local markets, rummage for vintage finds, and decorate our home with the plunder. We love being outdoors and enjoy the satisfaction that comes with a job well done.  And we like to think that the small things we do will make a difference in the long run – whether that’s making, upcycling, growing, cooking, escaping or relaxing.”

As you open the magazine’s high quality pages the first page is a could do list, it doesn’t preach it doesn’t say you should do these things or has any expectations that readers will do them they are simply suggestions and gives a small idea what to expect to see in the magazine such as “turn up your internal central heating with spicy stews and aromatic teas” and it invites you to note the little things you’d like to enjoy more often this year – mine would be to relax, take time for myself, learn new things and go on more adventures with family and friends.

The magazine is split into sections

  • Fresh – things to buy, cook, read and do
  • Living – home comforts, box sets
  • Escape – travel
  • Think – things to stop, read and wonder
  • Nest – home
  • Miscellany – miscellaneous

Each magazine appears to have a theme this edition was hygge.

From the detailed, interesting articles and beautiful photographs I have thoroughly enjoyed reading this magazine and I’m looking forward to the next edition.
